5 Ways to Fast Track Your Fitness For Easy Weight Loss

5 Ways to Fast Track Your Fitness For Easy Weight LossIn the warmer months most people choose to wear shorter skirts, sleeveless dresses, and bikinis. What better weight loss motivation is there? But even as autumn comes knocking, there is still time to lose weight and develop the body you always wanted.

However, in real life weight loss there is no ‘tomorrow’—the time is NOW to fast track your fitness and get a handle on your weight loss.  Here’s 5 fantastic ways to do this!

1.  Try acupuncture before exercising.

Acupuncture is a great way to activate your nervous system before a workout. It helps release chemicals in your muscles and central nervous system, which means you’ll be able to train harder, and ultimately see better results. This is one of the best ways to exercise for weight loss without adding extra workout time into your day

2.  Take regular exercise breaks.

Don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you have to go for a run during your lunch hour every day. Instead, work as much incidental exercise and activity into your day as you can. Stand up and go for a walk around the office for a few minutes every hour. Use the bathroom that’s furthest from your desk. Walk to the shops instead of driving. You could even do a set of squats and lunches while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil!

Because exercise doesn't have to suck

3.  Vary your exercises.

One reason variety in exercise is so important, especially when you are trying to lose weight, is because it reduces the risk of repetitive strain injuries and shapes the body all over. Simple variation lets you recruit different muscle groups, helping them all grow stronger and keeping your training functional whilst also tightening skin and enhancing the weight loss effects of a routine.

Simply changing your grip or foot stance in resistance training is a great way to add further variety to your workouts.   Manipulating training speeds is another great way to add variety and this then ensures your muscles work harder because they don’t rely on momentum. Don’t be afraid to change your exercise routine every session.  Top athletes do this and you can too!  If you’re strength training for your upper body, experiment by using equipment with thick handles. To effectively work your upper body muscles and get better results faster, you need to have a strong grip, which means having strong wrists, fingers, thumbs, and forearms. The best way to develop this is to work with thick-handled equipment.   Thick-handled equipment also helps to correct strength imbalances (bilateral deficits) and thus reduces the risk of injury.   Muscles need lots of stimulus to get optimal results, build up, and replace fat as you lose weight and one of the best ways to achieve this is by adding variety.

4.  Alternate between upper and lower body exercises.

This is a great way to burn double the amount of calories in your workout and improves your fitness as meet your weight loss goals. Why? Changing body focus boosts your heart rate because your body has to work extra hard to pump all the blood from your lower extremities (e.g. your leg muscles when you squat) all the way back to the upper extremities (e.g. your chest and arm muscles when you do push ups).  Here are some of my favourite combos:  squats into push-ups, seated rows into lunges, Swiss ball lying dumbbell pullovers into Swiss ball hip raises

Meeting your fitness goals, like weight loss goals, doesn’t happen overnight. Strength is a journey, just like a weight loss journey, and the two are intimately connected. Repetition teaches your body that being strong is normal. Multiple sets are critical to developing your strength, and the more strength you have, the more muscle you’ll use, which means you’ll burn more energy and more fat!
